On Easter They Were Alive
--On Easter They Were Alive
On Easter they were alive
One more day took my friend’s daughter and granddaughter
On a Tennessee Interstate out of life
My mind races, my pen won’t move
There are no comfort words
“There is a reason, a purpose?”
I think not.
“Time will heal?”
I think not.
“I’ll be here for you?”
But it is not me she wants.
I keep wishing it just to be any Thursday
A Friday viewing
A Saturday funeral
Thursday keeps moving
Toward the deepest dark.
