A Louse in Our House
Lice and Mice
There’s a louse in our house,
Microscopic, not intrusive,
Never once has been abusive.
I see no need to put her out
Unless she’s rude and starts to shout.
For sure I’ll always treat her nice
Alone without her family Lice.
They would force me to think twice.
Does she stay?
Or does she go?
Live inside?
Or face the snow?

This poem inspired another poem written by a friend on November 9, 2019:
A louse in my house! No way, Jose!
A louse becomes a multitude of Lice
and just like mice, cause personal vice!
If lice are allowed to dance jigs,
they cause shaven heads and wigs!
Lice extermination prevents aggravation!
So no louse in my house,
I would rather have a mouse!!!!
These poems inspired one more by Liz Demarco written on March 27, 2026
A situation with mice…
A mouse ran o’er my head
While I lay soundly asleep in bed
I jumped on Mom who startled,
Yelled “Gordhan!”
Now that mouse is dead.
And yet another poem from Margie Hammock on March 27, 2026
There once was a little mouse.
He came into my house.
I did not like him in my house,
so, I fed him some peanut butter,
and he died a happy mouse.
