Summer Journal 2012 July 21

I've just cleaned one more window.  Four down, nineteen to go.  Here are a couple more photos from the festival.  The top photo is Stell with Stelios Foras' sister, Athena.  The bottom is a Roma girl with balloons.

I've forgotten to mention Mr "Wealthy" Karas is purchasing all of the land around us.  He's the Greek who has made a fortune with "parking lots" in France.  He lives on a huge estate near us.  He's putting olive trees and vineyards everywhere, so  now the adjacent properties are lined with the new agriculture.  I'm confident he will want to buy this property, too.  Obviously, it is not for sale, but at least we don't have subdivisions sprouting up everywhere.  Looking at olive trees and vineyards is a so much more pleasing. 

Last night we went to Christo's and met up with Stell's cousin, Thodoros' family.  They were having what always feels to me like Greek Thanksgiving - every kind of food you can imagine.  The funniest part of the meal was watching Nikos put chocolate sauce on his watermelon.
