Summer Journal 2012, August 17

Very cool morning.  Yesterday we had lunch at Maraggio and the children really enjoyed the spaghetti.  Alex also really enjoyed the capuzzi (watermelon).  I told him he would wet the bed, and he did.  Carpuzzi will do that to you.

We went last night to a party for a friend, Mary.  I think it was really confining for the kids, and Alex fell asleep in his Mom's lap and Jaiden conked out across a couple of chairs.  This gave us all an opportunity to leave early, which was nice because the "party" was boring.  Tonight we are supposed to have a barbecue here with family.

I did forget to mention that Carrie and Paris discovered a turtle when we returned from lunch yesterday and we've been hoping it will eat the peaches we've been tossing in the direction we saw it heading.

Tomorrow night we are supposed to have a fish fry here.  I think Foras and his wife Katerina are in charge of the cooking.  Paris and Carrie will begin packing on Monday, and I think Stell and I will ride with them to the airport early Tuesday morning (really early, because their flight is at 8 a.m.), then we will turn in their rental car, because the rental car place doesn't open until 9 a.m.  I don't understand how a rental car place near an airport expects you to catch an 8 a.m. flight but not be able to return your car until 9 a.m.   Hey, this isn't Kansas, Toto.

I'm half way through Foreign Tongue.  Stell rediscovered the book Ali Wentworth that Addie gave him to read, and I definitely want to read it too.  I saw her on Piers Morgan, and she is hilarious.

Hope everyone reading this has a good weekend no matter where you are.
